Water Supply Resilience in Practice: Experiences from the Frontline

In almost every part of the world, living with water crises is an everyday reality. Water supply sustains a functioning society, and as such any threat to it must be countered head-on. Frontline water suppliers, routinely faced to respond and adapt so they can deliver water in the face of all challenges, have found that their task is more complex.

This book is an outcome of a motivation to bridge the gap between theory and practice. It presents the challenges in water supply that are faced by a range of locations (industrialised, fragile and conflict affected, low income and transitioning economy). By presenting the experiences of those directly involved in water provision, this book draws out some key challenges and the most common factors involved in building resilience.

I developed the book concept in collaboration with a colleague water consultant (St. John Day), together we secured the contributors, wrote sections and edited the book for publishing by International Water Association (IWA). The book was awarded open-access, and is an edited volume of case studies.
