The Resilient Water Accelerator.
The Resilient Water Accelerator is a multi-stakeholder coalition of leading climate and water organisations, governments and private finance entities. The partnership aims to support communities in low and middle income countries to access climate finance, through the design of investable water security solutions. Through the fund the accelerator aims to reach 50 million people living in water stressed areas by 2030.
At the concept development stage, I was contracted by WaterAid to be the lead writer of the Optimal Design Approach (OpDA) for the Accelerator. This was facilitated through a series of five workshops with representation from the world’s leading water, climate and environment organisations and several governments active in water and climate (15 + entities) - which included a special session with private financiers. The concept development was highly collaborative. The OpDA, was widely disseminated in the next stages. This includes its launch at COP26. The Accelerator received the seed funding required to initiate programming in five countries. The Accelerator continues to gain high-level recognition, including a special session at COP27 (hosted by the UK Government).
